Church in the Bark - an uplifting story

There is a church that gathers in Redhill Memorial Park each morning (except Sundays) around 7.30am.

It is an international gathering, and here's a list of members. Names have been changed, except mine. And Daisy's.

Pauline is from Jamaica.
James is from New Zealand
Liz is from Surrey
Jenny is from Lancashire
Mick is from Birmingham

We've all ended up living in Redhill and Reigate for one reason or another.
All of us go to local churches as well as the Church in the Park - Holy Trinity Redhill, St Mary's, Reigate and Redhill Baptist Churches are all represented.

This is Daisy.

We also all have dogs - which is why we are in the park at 7.30am - except for James, who is there because he's the park-keeper.

This is Daisy, Pauline's Yorkie, and she's a canine member of the Church in the Park. In fact, if it weren't for Daisy, the church probably wouldn't have met in the first place.

Pauline is going travelling, and needed someone to look after Daisy for 3 months. There have been no shortage of offers.

Jenny is having her for a short time, then Daisy is moving to Lizzie's. James's kids also want to have Daisy for a while, and the Vicarage is also keen to offer her a home.

This morning I learnt that Pauline needs to be at Heathrow early tomorrow morning, and that James is picking her up and taking her there.

There is nothing very profound about all of this, except in observing the way that a Christ-like care and love is being shown amongst a group of people who have 2 things in common: Jesus and our early morning gathering.

'A new command I give you: Love one another.
As I have loved you, so you must love one another.'
Jesus in John 13:34

I walked Darby back from the park this morning thankful to God that I am part of this church!
