Paraguay, Prayer and Puppetry

An amazingly varied weekend of activities at Holy Trinity and Timperley Gardens!

Saturday saw a group of HT members go to St Giles and St Georges Church in Ashtead for a day on 'Inspiring Prayer'. Time to pray, talks by Rev Mike Fox on the Psalms and space to wander around the beautiful surroundings of the Dell Centre made for a spiritually refreshing day.

On Saturday evening, and then at each of our services today, we welcomed back Tim Curtis, our CMS Mission Partner in Paraguay. Tim and his team have been working on a translation of the whole Bible into Enxet - a language spoken by several thousand 'first nation' Paraguayans. It's a project that has taken them c.25 years, and which came to completion in 2016

Holy Trinity has been supporting this work since its beginning, and it was a poignant moment when Tim was able to hand over a copy of the Enxet Bible to us! Tim reminded us that the work of taking the gospel to the nations continues, and there are many other translations still in progress.
Tim's work now turns to producing Bible study and discipleship materials for use in the (thriving) Enxet church.

Today was also the Timperley Gardens Summer Fete in the grounds of the Scout Hut.
The sun shone, the crowds came out, the music played, the BBQ was a non-stop production line of burgers and sausages. Aneal and a team of puppeteers brought us 'The Greatest Story Ever Told' as the children and parents sat round and joined in. Former Curate Caroline Glass came and revisited Timperley, too. All in all it was a great success.

Here is the very tired Team Timperley!

There has been a hugely encouraging sense of God being at work in a variety of different ways at HT and Timperley this weekend - thanks to all involved!
