Viva Las Woodmansterne!

'Ladies and gentlemen, fresh from a tour of Hong Kong and Venice, and on his way home to Southampton, please welcome to Woodmansterne Britain's Premier Elvis impersonator'. 

So began a terrific evening of entertainment in St Peter's Church Hall. Craig Jefferson, who, according to his website (http://www.mywayatributetoelvis.com/) really is Britain's top Elvis impersonator, brought us his 'My Way - A Tribute to Elvis'. It is the 4th year that Elvis has been in our building, but it was as sell-out, and as good as ever.

It was a real 'Church hall event' - not organised by us but St Peter's was well represented - tables around the edge, BYO, and a raffle at the interval. The dance floor was busy with Jivers ranging from 15 - late 80's. 

It must feel like a precarious life as a full-time celebrity impersonator. There are, surely, former Jimmy Savile impersonators for whom the bottom has dropped out of the market... Elvis' reputation as a great entertainer lives on undiminished, though, even at the hands of dreadful impersonators. Craig Jefferson is one of the best! Four more year!
